It’s been almost a week since I did my last post, which I’m not too happy with but other things have been going on and getting in the way of my writing. I’ve been trying to type up bits and pieces on my iPhone, but I think I’m going to end up giving myself RSI so I’ve given that up. I’ve got a massive list of things I want to write about, I just need to knuckle down and get on with it. I’m writing this tucked up in bed with a hot water bottle, as the weather has taken an inextricable turn for the worst and it is ridiculously freezing.
At the end of last week I went to stay with my brother and his family who live a couple of hours drive away, as he’ll be leaving for a six month deployment to afghanistan next week and he had some time off before he goes. It was lovely to see them all and have a few days off work too.
On Saturday, husband and I went shopping in Kingston as I had a list of things I needed to pick up and also wanted to have a look around the shops, both to see what’s coming into the stores for spring/summer and also catch the Monsoon sale which had just started. It’s quite a large store in Kingston, but the sale was pretty unimpressive and I left empty handed.
I did pick up this amazing statement necklace from Dorothy Perkins (BHS concession). I’ve had my eye on it for quite a while, as it was about £20 full price, but I picked it up for about £6. I just need somewhere to where it now!
The constant changes in temperature has also been playing havoc with my skin, both on my face and body (particularly my legs, which have gone almost grey with dryness), so I spent a good while in boots looking at different lotions which could bring me some relief.
I settled on this Skin Comforting Miracle Balm from the Champney’s range (£5, but available across the 3 for 2 items), which is a bit like a hard and scented 8 hour cream from Elizabeth Arden, as you can use it on skin, lips, cuticles etc. It smells amazing and when I have it on my skin feels just like I’ve had a facial. It really has that luxury spa scent about it too. I’ve only had it a few days and I’ve already used loads! I have combination skin, so I’ve only been using it across the top of my forehead and my cheeks, I think if I used it on my t-zone that it would cause a breakout as it’s very rich.
For my legs I went for this Sanctuary Spa 24 hour moisturiser (£5.50, but again available in the 3 for 2 offer) as it came with a pump, making it easier to handle. This too smells amazing, but be warned, it’s made to make your legs tingle! I thought I was allergic to it at first until I re-read the back and saw that it’s got an agent in it which tingles the skin in order to make you feel more energised. I’m not sure I had more energy, but I definitely have softer skin.
Lastly, I’ve attached a picture of the amazing earrings I talked about in my last post. They’re outrageously amazing and have made me feel very glamorous on the two occasions I’ve had chance to wear them! I got them in the January sale from Accessorise, reduced from £15 to £4.50. Another lovely bargain!
